Accounting Manager (Construction) On‑Site: 5x a week Location: Roswell/Alpharetta Compensation: $75,000–90,000/year

Vaco is partnering with a growing construction organization seeking an Accounting Manager. The Accounting Manager will oversee accounting operations for a construction organization, managing day‑to‑day accounting functions across 25–35 active projects at any given time across the United States. This role is responsible for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, cash management, bank reconciliations, and month‑end close. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail‑oriented, and experienced in the unique financial demands of project‑based construction accounting (required).

Key Responsibilities Accounts Payable (AP)

Oversee full‑cycle AP, including vendor invoice processing, coding, approvals, and payment scheduling

Ensure subcontractor invoices, lien waivers, insurance certificates/COIs, and compliance documents are properly collected and validated

Maintain accurate job cost allocations and ensure expenses are posted to the correct project and cost code

Accounts Receivable (AR)

Prepare and submit customer billings, including progress billings, AIA‑style invoices, and change order documentation

Monitor collections, follow up on outstanding receivables, and resolve billing discrepancies

Track retention and ensure timely release and collection

Project Accounting (25–35 Active Projects)

Maintain accurate project financials, budgets, and cost‑to‑complete reporting

Work closely with project managers to review job cost reports, forecast cash needs

Cash Management

Monitor daily cash flow and prepare short‑term and long‑term cash forecasts

Manage outgoing payments to optimize cash position while meeting vendor and subcontractor obligations

Coordinate with leadership on cash strategy and financial planning

Bank Reconciliations & GL

Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for all accounts

Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate posting of all transactions

Reconcile balance sheet accounts and resolve discrepancies promptly

Month‑End Close

Lead the month‑end close process, including journal entries, accruals, and financial statement preparation

Support quarterly and year‑end reporting, audits, and tax preparation

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred)

5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in construction or project‑based industries (required)

Strong understanding of job costing, WIP schedules, and construction billing formats (required)

Proficiency with construction accounting software (Sage 300, Viewpoint, Foundation, QuickBooks Contractor) (preferred)

Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills (required)

Ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment (required)
