Regional Technical Specialist – SKF Group
Location: US Remote
Salary Range: $111,000.00 to $125,000.00
Job Description Technical Specialists are regionally located technical support personnel tasked with providing end‑user customers with best‑in‑class, hands‑on technical support and specific industry and application knowledge for their focused industries. A successful candidate will have a strong engineering and/or technical sales background along with thorough knowledge of manufacturing and production processes primarily related to Oil & Gas, Pumps, Metals, Mining, & Pulp & Paper, Food, Semiconductor, and other related heavy industries. The focus area of support is SKF bearings, seals, services, and other offerings. The primary focus will be on accounts in the Louisiana, Arkansas area as well as the Southeast Region of the United States.
Job Responsibilities
Create and maintain SKF brand loyalty for products and services by leveraging support activities and relationships at key end‑users and Authorized Distributors
Foster and develop relationships with end‑users and Authorized Distributors
Provide product installation assistance and application troubleshooting
Possess a thorough knowledge of customer manufacturing processes and production equipment, enabling consultative support
Develop and deliver internal and external training to maintenance personnel, as well as supporting local Technical Seminars
Support sales by mapping the use of bearings and seals in critical equipment at specific end‑user locations
Work with local Technical Sales Managers (TSMs) to develop a sales strategy and support tactical growth initiatives and core business retention
Introduce new product launches to end user base
On‑site failure analysis/inspections
Supporting projects that create Cost Savings for key end users/distributors
Support SKF Authorized Distributor partners with technical support/joint calls
Provide bearing and sealing recommendations as part of the application review process
Support the SKF full line of products and services (SKF, CR, PEER, Kaydon, Cooper, Reman)
Approximately 75% travel is required while primarily supporting Louisiana, Arkansas, and the Southeast Region of the United States
Requirements and Qualifications
BS in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent Engineering degree is highly preferred
10+ years of experience in application engineering, technical project work, or maintenance engineering
Strong mechanical aptitude and ability
High level of process industry knowledge & experience
Ability to manage time, resources, and budgets to meet organizational goals
Basic PC software and CRM (Customer Relationship Management) skills
Proven track record of proactive and continuous improvement within the area of responsibility
Demonstrated ability to think strategically
Condition monitoring and Maintenance strategy knowledge/experience
Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers to capitalize on sales opportunities
The candidate will be working from a home office but will potentially spend up to 75% of their time at customer locations involving service contracts
