Job Description 3rd Shift: Sunday-Thursday 10:00pm-8:00am

JOB SUMMARY The Technician III performs maintenance tasks for company assets and assists maintenance staff with overhauling minor components and installing replacements, with electrical, hydraulic and computer diagnostics and with scheduled and unscheduled preventative maintenance. This position also responds to service and road calls.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when and where required.

Report immediately any safety violations and correcting unsafe acts or conditions.

Comply with company safety policies and with applicable state and federal regulations.

May be required to drive a vehicle with a gross vehicle weight (GVW) not to exceed 26,000 pounds.

Perform preventative maintenance or repairs on company assets according to work pending reports, vehicle condition reports, preventative maintenance schedules and the direction of the maintenance staff.

Document repair operations and time tracking in accordance with company procedures.

Requisition parts as necessary.

Perform failure analysis and reporting findings to maintenance management.

Maintain service truck readiness including safety equipment, tools, equipment and cleanliness.

Diagnose and triage assets and prioritize repairs.

Assist co-workers with diagnostics and repairs.

Train new hires on the proper processes of repairs.

Conduct quality checks on repairs made by co-workers.

Conduct technical inspections and document findings.

Participate in root cause analysis on rework and faulty parts.

Maintain repair order documentation to include repair description, parts used and repair times.

Perform monthly inventories as required.

Ensure the work area is clean and neat.

Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

At least three years of heavy truck or equipment maintenance experience including experience performing maintenance on Class 8 trucks and heavy equipment

Must possess own tools

Working knowledge of hydraulic systems, air brakes, wheel end, electrical components, troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities

Familiarity with shop equipment and OEM diagnostic software, such as Tech tool, Cummins Insite, Allison Doc, Bendix, etc. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Effective time management skills

Mechanical aptitude

Demonstrated aptitude for maintaining and repairing equipment

Ability to read labels, safety warnings, and guidelines

Ability to learn basic computer skills to communicate document daily work and progress, track procurements and repair status

Ability to pay attention to detail and remain alert to ensure safety

Ability to understand and follow instructions and to communicate with co-workers

Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment

PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or its equivalent

Formal diesel and heavy equipment training

Completion of an accredited technical school two-year program

Texas Class B Commercial Driver's License

REQUIRED LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS

Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certified or ability to obtain certification

Valid Class C Driver’s License

Safe driving history for the past three years

Current State Inspector License or the ability to obtain one within 90 days of employment
