Job Overview Christian Brothers Automotive Trussville is currently seeking a General Manager to lead the team at this state‑of‑the‑art facility. This person will need to strive to provide unmatched service to both our customers and their vehicles while maintaining honesty and integrity in all communications and service recommendations. The General Manager position is directly responsible for all aspects of the location operations, staff and guests.
Responsibilities Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, sales activities, staff management, quality of work, guest satisfaction, revenue, profit margin, and other documented goals as assigned by the Owner. All office and shop personnel report directly to the General Manager.
Implement the Christian Brothers Automotive system to achieve store profitability goals.
Develop and implement local marketing activities.
Recruit, hire, and train local employees as required
Follow‑up communication with customers after repairs are completed
Manage all employees through coaching and career skill development
Manage office and shop personnel and daily operations
Develop estimates and work orders as needed
Ensure target margins are achieved
Act in a professional manner suitable as to represent a quality organization with which you are employed, always and in every instance projecting the characteristics of honesty and integrity
Take necessary corrective and/or disciplinary action for employee non‑compliance
Ensure quality of work, attitude and performance meets or exceeds guest satisfaction goals
Direct the smooth, orderly and organized operation of the store
Maintain a personal positive attitude and positive communications at all times
Direct Service Writer's development of our guest estimates and work orders and assign work orders to the technicians
Ensure selection of quality and correct parts
Ensure all equipment is fully operational and in good working order.
Ensure technicians have the resources needed to do their job
Listen to minimum 3 incoming phone calls daily and assure the team is serving guests with excellence.
Follow and enforce all company policies and procedures as outlined in the current Employee Handbook
Qualifications
At least 3 years experience in automotive repair Fixed Operations and/or Service Management
Must have strong interpersonal/communication skills
Strong customer service focus
Exceptional attendance record with the willingness to remotely respond to rare customer issues after business hours and/or occasional weekends.
At least 5 years of experience in aftermarket auto repair
Willingness to learn new methods for running a shop and enhancing team performance.
Ability to effectively lead and manage service manager/writer position
Ability to effectively lead and manage automotive technicians
Solid track record in automotive repair estimating and repair order generation
Significant experience in KPI reporting (ticket averages, car count, labor, and parts reporting)
Significant experience in retail sales/service
Windows PC skills, including MS Office
TekMetric or similar shop management system experience
Physical Requirements
Being on your feet for the majority of the workday (standing, walking, etc.)
Occasionally lifting and carrying objects over 50 lbs.
Driving manual transmission vehicles
Keeping a brisk work pace in a high‑volume environment
Using a keyboard and mouse several times daily
Using a standard handset phone several times daily
