Role Researches, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines. This position supports the Nuclear Propulsion Overhaul Engineering department E81 for Aircraft Carrier and Submarine overhauls. This position develops engineering solutions, written technical direction, and provides waterfront support for the overhaul and upgrade of Reactor Plant mechanical systems. A successful candidate will possess analytical and problem solving skills to resolve technical issues which arise during nuclear system and component overhaul. The individual shall have the communication and relational skills to interface and discuss technical issues with engineering and non‑technical personnel. In addition, the individual will be willing to provide hands‑on support on the ship. We are looking for engaged personnel looking to make a difference and uphold the highest level of technical standards required for work in the Navy Nuclear Propulsion Program.
Responsibilities
Research and plan processes, tooling, and material needs to provide a completely engineered solution for the execution of nuclear work.
Develop technical work instructions such as procedures and troubleshooting paperwork.
Provide on‑site support and problem solving for issues that arise during shipboard or shop work.
Research and develop innovative solutions to resolve technical problems.
Project manage work from beginning to end.
Qualifications / Must Have
Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline from an ABET accredited program.
0 years of relevant exempt experience.
Radiological and Personnel Safety training will be provided.
