The Electrician - Water Plant position is part of the Plant Industrial Trades Series, devoted to journey-level skilled trades work in the construction, alteration and repair of utility plant facilities and equipment. Responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and control equipment supporting the operations of a large‑scale water treatment and pumping facility. This role ensures the continuous and safe operation of medium‑voltage power distribution, motor control centers, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), SCADA systems, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and instrumentation critical to water treatment, distribution, and pumping processes. Key Responsibilities

Troubleshoot and diagnose complex electrical and control system issues. Perform preventive maintenance on electrical infrastructure. Update wiring diagrams and control schematics. Ensure work complies with NEC, local codes, and safety regulations. Collaborate closely with operations, mechanical, and instrumentation teams. Manage technical documentation, maintain records, determine material needs, and manage inventory. Respond to emergency repairs due to inclement weather or other events. About You

Perform journey‑level electrical work, including installation, maintenance, and repair of process instrumentation, electrical controls, power distribution, process equipment, power generation, and automation systems for water treatment plants and remote facilities. Provide direction and review the work of other electricians. Troubleshoot electrical distribution infrastructure, equipment, and systems to identify and resolve issues. Perform inspections, preventive maintenance, and maintain security, fire alarm, and access control systems. Manage technical documentation, maintain records, determine material needs, and manage inventory. Respond to emergency repairs as needed due to inclement weather or other emergency events. Education and Experience

High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalency and 1 to 3 years' experience as a journey‑level electrician or related work.

Any equivalent combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted. Licensing and Certifications

Valid North Carolina Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire. Journeyman Electrician License. Knowledge Of

Providing directions to others in coordinating work and to meet service standards. Providing attention to detail in assignments. Proofreading and error correction. Business math computations. Organizing and maintaining records and files. Maintaining and updating data and documentation. Comprehending reference books and manuals. Operating assigned tools and equipment. Interpreting and applying applicable laws, codes, regulations and standards. Providing customer service. Utilizing a computer and relevant software applications. Utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the general public and others to sufficiently exchange or convey information and to receive work direction. ADA and Other Requirements

Work Environment and Physical Effort: Medium – Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 25 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects. Work Environment: Office or indoor environment, outdoor environment, or in a vehicle. Employees may occasionally work in a street environment, construction site, confined space, warehouse or shop environment. Work Exposures: This position does not require frequent environmental exposures. Employees may occasionally be exposed to individuals who are hostile or irate, extreme cold, extreme heat, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, or loud noises (85+ decibels average over an 8‑hour day such as heavy trucks, jack hammers, leaf blowers, lawn mowers, construction).
