Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and resourceful Employment Specialist to support clients in achieving long-term employment and economic stability. This role focuses on assisting individuals—particularly those experiencing homelessness—through job readiness, placement, and retention services. The ideal candidate will have experience with vocational programs, strong interpersonal skills, and a passion for empowering others through meaningful work.
Key Duties
Build trusting, collaborative relationships with clients to support employment goals
Assess vocational skills and readiness for workplace integration
Assist clients with resume development, interview preparation, and job search strategies
Provide guidance on workplace expectations, hygiene, and financial literacy
Support clients in understanding how employment may affect benefits (e.g., SSI, Medicaid)
Conduct job development activities tailored to client strengths and interests
Maintain regular contact with clients and employers to support job retention
Offer on-site support and education to employers as needed
Facilitate access to community resources and employment-related services
Provide transportation to interviews, appointments, and job-related activities
Monitor case requirements and assist with completing forms and applications
Identify high-risk situations and help clients follow program protocols
Research and recommend new activities to enhance vocational programming
Qualifications
One year of experience in human services or direct client support, or equivalent education
Associate degree in social work, psychology, criminal justice, or related field preferred
Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness and vocational programs
Valid driver’s license required at time of appointment
CPR/First Aid/AED certification (must be obtained within six months of hire)
Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
