Client Overview Our client, a well‑known organization located in New York City, is looking to add a
Tax Accountant
to their team.
Salary/Hourly Rate $45/hr – $55/hr
Position Overview The Tax Accountant will manage tax compliance and reporting for the organization, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local regulations. This role involves preparing tax filings, supporting audits, and advising on tax implications for grants and donations. The ideal candidate will have strong technical tax knowledge and experience in nonprofit accounting.
Responsibilities
Prepare and file federal, state, and local tax returns for the organization.
Ensure compliance with IRS regulations for nonprofit entities, including Form 990.
Maintain accurate tax records and documentation.
Research and advise on tax implications for grants, donations, and special projects.
Assist with audits and respond to inquiries from tax authorities.
Collaborate with the Finance team to support month‑end and year‑end close processes.
Required Experience / Skills
3+ years of tax accounting experience, preferably in nonprofit or public accounting.
Strong knowledge of IRS regulations for tax‑exempt organizations.
Proficiency in tax preparation software and Microsoft Excel.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Preferred Experience / Skills
CPA designation or active pursuit of CPA.
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
