Mass Litigation Claims Specialist II
Zurich North America invites applicants for a dynamic role within our Latent & Environmental Claims organization. As part of the Mass Litigation team, you will manage low to complex, multi‑year commercial liability claims involving toxic torts, latent injuries, and class action litigation. Your focus will be on claims under CGL, umbrella, excess liability, employers’ liability, and other specialty coverages.
Key Responsibilities
Manage each claim from assignment through resolution with moderate direction from management.
Provide technical claims service on predominantly litigated matters of moderate to high severity and complexity.
Interpret policy and conduct coverage analysis to resolve claims, identify and mitigate risks, and deliver industry insights.
Retain and manage counsel and vendors; collaborate with underwriters, customers, and brokers.
Negotiate and resolve claims; manage all communications and reporting associated with claim life cycle.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree and 3 or more years of experience in Claims or Insurance, OR
Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, Associate Degree, and 3 or more years of experience in Claims or Insurance, OR
Completion of Zurich Claims Training Program and 2 or more years of experience in Claims or Insurance, OR
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in Claims or Insurance, AND
Must obtain and maintain required adjuster license(s).
Knowledge of insurance regulations, markets, and products.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem‑solving skills.
Solid time management, prioritization, and multitasking skills.
Experience collaborating in a team environment and building cross‑functional relationships.
Adept at explaining complex financial and/or actuarial concepts.
Ability to determine scope and exposure for moderately complex claims.
Understanding of the reserving process for indemnity and expense in moderately complex claims.
Ability to develop and execute negotiation strategies and plans.
Ability to identify subtleties in customer/client and/or business partner interactions.
Ability to present information necessary to propose claim resolution to stakeholders.
Compensation & Benefits Salary range: $65,900 – $108,100 with a 10% short‑term incentive bonus eligibility. Employees may also receive bonuses and merit increases. If your expectations exceed the listed range, we encourage you to apply.
