Job Summary The Professional Nurse provides direct patient care within Campus Health primary care, applies the nursing process, coordinates educational programs, and assists with advanced clinical skills for disease states such as asthma, diabetes, gender‑affirming care, and travel medicine. The role includes supervising ancillary personnel, cross‑covering other clinic areas, and serving as liaison between providers and patients to promote optimal care.
Key Responsibilities
Organize and deliver direct patient care to students and spouses.
Perform nursing assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
Coordinate educational programs, trainings, and guideline interpretations.
Assist with complex procedures and supervise ancillary nursing personnel.
Provide cross‑coverage to other clinical areas as needed.
Act as liaison between health care providers and patients.
Minimum Education & Experience
Registered Nurse license in North Carolina.
Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
Required Qualifications and Competencies
License to practice nursing by the North Carolina Board of Nursing under the Nurse Practice Act.
Clinical experience in acute/ambulatory care acceptable.
Ability to administer intravenous therapy.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in health IT and chart documentation.
Capacity to handle physical demands of patient care (lifting, walking, standing).
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in college health or campus medical clinic settings.
Experience with specialty disease states listed in the job summary.
Physical and Mental Requirements
Daily physical effort including lifting, standing, and walking.
Exposure to infectious diseases; use of protective equipment and universal precautions mandated.
Potential exposure to violent or aggressive patients; campus security support available.
Manual dexterity required for IV placement, sterile dressings, and medication administration.
Sign‑On Bonus Eligible for a $2,500 sign‑on bonus, paid in two installments: $1,250 within 30 days of hire, and $1,250 12 months after hire.
