Position Summary To coordinate, implement, and plan nursing care in a timely and accurate manner.

Position Requirements Formal Education / Training

Earned a nursing diploma or degree from a college or university.

Licensed in the State of Tennessee.

BLS within 90 days of hire.

Unit‑Specific Certifications

3rd Floor Telemetry Unit:

Basic Arrhythmia within 6 months of hire; ACLS within 6 months of hire.

Float Pool and Float Pool Extended:

Basic Arrhythmia within 6 months of hire; ACLS within 6 months of hire; NVCI certification within 6 months of hire.

Critical Care:

Basic Arrhythmia within 6 months of hire; ACLS within 6 months of hire; NVCI certification within 6 months of hire; AACN, CCRN or CCP certification within two years of hire.

Oncology:

ONS chemo/immunotherapy certification within one year of hire.

Adult Emergency Room:

At least one year of emergency experience preferred; TNCC preferred; ACLS within 6 months of hire; PALS within 6 months of hire; NVCI certification within 6 months of hire.

Pediatric Medical Surgical:

At least one year of pediatric inpatient experience preferred; PALS within 6 months of hire; NVCI certification within 6 months of hire.

Pediatric Emergency Room:

At least one year of pediatric emergency experience preferred; PALS within 6 months of hire; ACLS within 6 months of hire; NVCI certification within 6 months of hire; ENPC or TNCC within 6 months of hire.

Equipment and Skills Training Standard patient care equipment for services provided. The ability to work well under pressure, to function dependently and independently and to be flexible in applying basic nursing knowledge to a variety of settings. Equipment: Network Computer System; Omnicell Medication System; Telemetry; Pneumatic Tube System; AT&T Language Line.

Physical Environment

Adult medical/surgical unit with patients ranging from adolescents to >99 years

Pediatric medical/surgical unit with patients ranging from neonates to 21 years

Critical Care unit with patients ranging from adolescents to >99 years

Oncology unit with adult patients

Adult Emergency Department with patients ranging from less than one year to >99 years

Pediatric Emergency Department with patients ranging from neonates to 21 years

Physical Effort

Communicate in English verbally and legibly.

Prolonged standing and working up to twelve hours a day.

Lift with assistance up to 250 lbs.

Performance Standards

Performs comprehensive assessment on all patients within the appropriate time of admission using observation, communication, and examination skills.

Plans patient care individually, identifying problems/needs, nursing diagnoses, standards of care/practice, interventions consistent with identified problems and attainable outcomes.

Plans for patient teaching, discharge and post‑discharge needs as appropriate.

Functions independently with treatments, procedures and equipment appropriate to areas evidence by adherence to policy, procedure and competency assessment with no patterns of problems.

Handles/transports/stores/prepares/administers medications/solutions safely and in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures.

Documents accurately and timely.

Reassesses patient’s condition, evaluates response, and modifies plan of care accordingly and promptly.

Accepts charge responsibilities and assigns staff with consideration of patient condition and care requirements, acuity and complexity.

Maintains a healing and therapeutic environment for the patient and family.

Maintains position‑specific qualifications.

Demonstrates responsibility for assigned communications and special assignments.
