Overview This position will be reporting to the Focus Factory Program Supervisor. This position is for a Program Representative for Strategic Sourcing oversight in Supplier Quality.
This position is located in Groton with 75% travel required at the Strategic Sourcing Focus Factory in Florence, SC.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading quality efforts and serve as the secondary point of contact to Quality Management in Quonset Point and Groton for contracted work at a supplier's facility using Electric Boat processes and procedures. Assignments will include program quality oversight, and employing self‑surveillance and self‑assessment methods to monitor and maintain compliance with contractual requirements. The candidate must be familiar with structural fabrication processes, work completion documentation requirements and processes, and understanding of EB business systems for work completion and noncompliance documentation. The Program Rep will work with Quality Management, other onsite quality organizations including NDT and Welding Engineering, Inspection, Audit and Assessment, and various departments supporting the focus factory including operations, deckplate engineering, and strategic sourcing program office.
The QA Program Rep will be expected to support Program Reviews and status meetings with the Program Office, the Government, and Supply Chain Management.
They will be in regular contact with and have highly interactive relationships with all of the quality support for the Focus Factory for all of Quality.
Assignment includes:
Lead for all Quality efforts at Focus Factory and act as a key contact to Quality management in Groton and Quonset Point
Report and provide recommendations on health of Focus Factory
Ensure procedural compliance in day‑to‑day work
Support mentoring and learning on the deckplate
Support Quality briefings
Ensure qualifications are maintained, and procedure changes are appropriately rolled out
Support metrics development and reporting
Collaborate with Operations and Strategic Sourcing Program Office to understand project and work status
Attend daily Plan of Day meetings and Turnover or equivalent meetings
Collaborate with Operations to understand project and work status
Support unplanned event analysis and resolution
This is a first shift position but the selected candidate must be available to work second shift as business needs dictate.
Qualifications Required:
High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
10+ years ship building/maintaining/operating experience
Ability to travel up to 75% to the supplier based who is located in Florence, SC
This is a first shift position but the selected candidate must be available to work second shift as business needs dictate.
Experience leading cross‑discipline teams
Project planning experience
Preferred:
Bachelor's degree
Prior submarine service
Experience in audit and oversight
Experience working with SUPSHIP and NAVSEA
For Electric Boat Employees only: understanding of EB Quality Manual, and for Electric Boat & external candidates: ISO 9001 requirements
Familiarity with welding and NDT specifications
For Electric Boat Employees only: Familiarity with Electric Boat business systems, processes and procedures that support ship construction
Skills The QA Program Rep must:

Work in a team environment representing quality to meet both the NAVY's and EB's goals
Be able to understand the overall business systems and construction requirements to recognize the potential downstream (or upstream) impacts that decisions may have on various areas of the business

Maintain a questioning attitude
Excellent verbal communication and technical writing skills
Position requires a self‑motivated individual that excels in dealing with ambiguity
