Job Title: Oracle Database Administrator (Oracle DBA)
Experience Required
6-10 years of hands‑on experience as an Oracle DBA
Experience supporting mission‑critical production databases
Role Overview The Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) will be responsible for the installation, configuration, administration, performance tuning, and support of Oracle databases across development, test, and production environments. The role requires strong expertise in database performance optimization, backup and recovery, security, upgrades, and high availability, with the ability to work closely with application, infrastructure, and support teams.
Key Responsibilities
Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain Oracle databases (10g, 11g, 12c, 19c, or higher).
Perform database performance tuning using AWR, ADDM, ASH reports, and SQL tuning tools.
Manage backup and recovery strategies using RMAN and integrate with third‑party backup tools.
Monitor database health, troubleshoot issues, and perform root‑cause analysis for production incidents.
Implement and manage high availability and disaster recovery solutions such as RAC, Data Guard, and ASM.
Apply Oracle patches, PSU/CPU upgrades, and security fixes.
Manage database user security, roles, privileges, auditing, and compliance requirements.
Perform database refreshes, cloning, and migrations between environments.
Work with application teams to optimize SQL queries, indexes, and execution plans.
Automate routine DBA tasks using shell scripting, PL/SQL, or scheduling tools.
Participate in on‑call rotation and provide 24×7 production support as needed.
Maintain detailed documentation for database configurations, procedures, and standards.
Mandatory Skills & Qualifications Database Technologies
Strong hands‑on experience with Oracle RDBMS (10g/11g/12c/19c)
Expertise in RMAN, backup/recovery, and database cloning
Experience with Oracle RAC, Data Guard, ASM
Strong SQL and PL/SQL knowledge
Performance & Monitoring
Advanced experience in database performance tuning
Expertise in AWR, ADDM, ASH, SQL Trace, TKPROF
Experience managing large databases (VLDBs)
Operating Systems & Tools
Strong experience with Linux/Unix environments
Shell scripting (bash/ksh)
Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM)
Security & Compliance
Knowledge of database security best practices
Experience with encryption, auditing, and access controls
Preferred Skills
Experience with Oracle databases on cloud platforms (OCI, AWS, Azure)
Exposure to Oracle Exadata
Experience with database migration tools and upgrades
Knowledge of DevOps or automation tools (Ansible, Terraform, CI/CD)
Experience supporting ERP systems such as SAP, EBS, or PeopleSoft
