Hogs Haven Golf Club

is pleased to announce the advertisement of various positions within its already impressive Agronomy Team, supporting all stages of a new golf course’s construction, grow‑in, and subsequent maintenance. This world‑class golf development is located just two miles south of the Home of Golf. The development is well advanced, with our agronomy teams focused on phase 1 grow‑in works and phase 2 construction operations. A soft opening is planned for summer 2026, along with a state‑of‑the‑art new golf course agronomy facility, with a full opening scheduled for July 2027, timed to coincide with the return of The Open Championship at the Old Course.

An 18‑hole championship golf course with top‑tier practice facilities

A Par 3 course and a Himalayan putting course

The restoration of the original farmhouse building to create a unique halfway house dining experience

David Cole, Director of Agronomy, and Michael Hughes, Course Manager, are eager to expand the current Agronomy Team and continue to collaborate closely with the golf course contractors throughout the construction, grow‑in, and long‑term maintenance phases of the golf courses and grounds.

Senior Greenkeepers Reporting to the A&M Senior Agronomy Team, the senior greenkeepers will directly participate in all aspects of the key phases of the construction and grow‑in and long‑term maintenance for A&M Fife’s golf courses and grounds.

Responsibilities

The construction of USGA greens

Extensive drainage and irrigation installation

The construction of bunkers

Sand capping to tees, fairways and primary rough

Playing surface finishing and pre‑plant application

Seeding, turfing and grow‑in establishment

Ongoing assistance with drainage and course improvement projects

Assist with annual seed and turf establishment programmes

Assist with cultural practices applied to all the playing surfaces on the golf courses

Apply pesticide and fertilisers applications by the interpretation of data collation and following an Integrated Pest Management programme

Assist with record keeping and agronomy data collation and ensure they are kept up to date

Apply training for staff on the safe use of operational equipment and care of mowers and other equipment

Assist with the operation and maintenance of the irrigation and pumping systems

The Senior Greenkeepers will be responsible for:

Following guidance from the A&M senior agronomy team, the golf course contractors, the project management team and various consultants assisting and monitoring all aspects of the construction phases for the golf courses and grounds.

Assisting with the maintenance and improvements of the putting greens, tees, fairways, practice facilities, roughs, bunkers and associated facilities

Identifying potential problems and providing corrective solutions and recommendations to the Director of Agronomy

Assisting with drainage and course improvement projects

Assisting with annual seed and turf establishment programmes

Assisting with cultural practices to all the playing surfaces on the golf course

Ensuring proper use of pesticide and fertilisers applications and equipment by following an Integrated Pest Management programme

Assist with training programmes for the safe use of operational equipment and care of mowers and other equipment

Ensuring all record keeping is accurate and kept up to date and all golf course related tasks are recorded

Assist with any relevant administration such as H&S, Training Manuals, Record Keeping, Purchasing, and data collation are maintained within correct legislation

Ensure the Golf course conditions are in line with A&M expectations

Other duties as assigned by the Director of Agronomy/General Manager/Director of Golf/Company Directors

Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs, and communicate with the senior agronomy team and staff with all golf course operations

Assist with monitoring water requirements with the use of ET and moisture devices and apply irrigation based on weather conditions and turfgrass requirements.

Maintaining good communications with all the senior agronomy team and staff and offer assistance and advice when required

Applicants should have:

A consistent history of employment at a good Greenkeeping level

A professional track record in the areas of:

NVQ level 3 or equivalent in Greenkeeping and Sports Turf Management

PA1, PA2 and PA6 spraying certificates but not mandatory

The game of golf

Turf‑grass management

Good working knowledge of golf course operations

Excellent organisational and communication skills

Be an individual with presence and possess the skill and ability to influence others

Experience of working within a similar quality‑orientated organisation

Confidence, and a passion for what you do and not be afraid to talk out

A drive to stay current with continual professional development through industry conferences, and educational opportunities
