– State of Florida’s social services agency overseeing child safety, foster care, adoption, domestic violence, adult protective services, refugees, homelessness, mental health, substance abuse, childcare, human trafficking, phones and public assistance. DCF’s mission is to protect vulnerable populations and promote self‑sufficient families. Substance Abuse and Mental Health (SAMH) Program

– State authority for substance abuse and mental health services. The Office of SAMH is responsible for planning, evaluating, and implementing a statewide system of care for preventing, treating, and recovering individuals with serious mental illnesses or substance‑use disorders. Florida State Hospital (FSH)

– A mental‑health treatment facility owned and operated by the State of Florida, part of DCF, which is a tobacco‑free facility. This supervisor position requires independent judgment, proactive responsibility execution, and exceptional attention to detail. Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Supervise Human Services Counselors and motivate employees to improve service quality and quantity. Provide individualized clinical supervision, evaluate subordinates, and conduct performance reviews. Assist in screening Human Services Counselor applicants and provide on‑unit training for new counselors. Disseminate policy, procedure, and training information to staff. Ensure social work documentation meets required standards through random quarterly audits. Distribute caseloads, monitor workflow, deadlines, and time utilization. Provide social work coverage to criminal and civil units, carry a caseload if necessary. Consult with community organizations and agencies to meet resident needs. Serve on the External Screening committee. Participate in unit and dorm activities, meetings, policy, and procedure review. Develop and implement staff development and training programs for social services staff. Assist in developing policies and ensuring implementation. Ensure accurate and timely completion of all documentation. Provide unit coverage during absences. Assist in recruiting social work interns and standardizing communication. Coordinate counseling guidance and discharge planning for individuals with acute or chronic mental disabilities, including identification of alternative living environments and financial benefits. Maintain effective, professional therapeutic relationships with employees and residents, appreciating cultural diversity. Create and revise assessments to identify psychosocial stressors affecting mental health; complete necessary social services assessments. Represent the unit and department at legal hearings if applicable; keep discharge lists updated and report to the Residential Services Director. Attend in‑service training, review policies, and participate in scheduled meetings. Perform other related duties as required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree and 3 years of professional experience. Master’s Degree and 2 years of professional experience. Candidate Profile Requirements
