Outpatient Psych APP at UNC Caldwell - Greater Hickory Metro Area, NC
UNC Caldwell is the choice for health care in Caldwell County. The Emergency Department sees approximately 30,000 visits a year.
Caldwell Physician Network and UNC Physicians Network provide the majority of primary care and select specialty care to our market from thirteen separate medical park locations throughout the county. Our 137-bed licensed acute care hospital is a member of the UNC Health System.
The new Jonas Hill Hospital and Clinic features 27 inpatient beds as well as a full-spectrum outpatient clinic with a multi‑disciplinary staff. It is located adjacent to UNC Caldwell hospital in the heart of Western, NC.
Position Information
Full‑time opportunity for an outpatient provider
Psych Certified APP with 2‑3 years of psych experience is required
Licensed and certified PMHNP; ANCC or AANP Board Certified
Experience with EPIC is preferred
Location: Jonas Hill Clinic, 407 Mulberry Street, Lenoir NC 28645
Provide direct patient care in an office setting for a minimum of 36 hours, serving ages 6‑30 approximately
Monday – Friday, no ED call, no clinic call
Duties: Provide patient care to adults and children through assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health needs. Provide medication management and perform psychiatric evaluations for patients pursuing OP services. Provide psychiatric leadership and direction for the treatment team. Work within a multidisciplinary treatment team under the supervision of an MD psychiatrist.
Provider will see an average of 10‑12 patients per day

Responsibilities
Clinical—Obtains relevant health and medical history, performs thorough physical assessment, reviews and interprets diagnostic tests, develops differential diagnoses and treatment plans, prescribes medication, orders pharmacological agents, schedules follow‑up, incorporates evidence‑based initiatives, conducts preventive screenings, maintains comprehensive records, and keeps current knowledge of general disease and pathology as well as specialty literature.
Education—Appropriately educates clients and families, collaborates with clinicians, staff and students, develops educational materials, provides education to physicians, housestaff, nursing, ancillaries, and students, and attends educational programs.
Leadership—Provides instruction to physicians, housestaff, nursing, ancillaries, and participants, participates in community and network outreach, develops and leads outreach programs, and champions system improvements.
Professional—Interacts with patients and families respectfully and courteously, collaborates with coworkers and other team members, resolves problems quickly, accepts responsibility for outcomes, and shares workload with the team.
Quality/Research—Engages in continuous quality improvement, consults with management on problem‑solving, leads interdisciplinary teams, initiates and revises protocols, influences policy, and develops new clinical programs or services.
Education Requirements
Completion of an accredited graduate‑level Advanced Practice Provider (PA) program.
Licensure/Certification Requirements
Licensed as an Advanced Practice Provider in North Carolina.
Board certification required by the department.
DEA registration.
Professional Experience Requirements
No prior experience required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements
Demonstrated clinical competency.
Effective leadership skills and strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Demonstrated written and verbal communication and strong analytical skills.
Effective interaction to ensure successful care of patients in the clinical setting.
Documentation in the medical record to substantiate accurate billing.
