Job Purpose Performs skilled tasks using a variety of tools to modify, maintain, and repair injection molding tools, dies, jigs and fixtures.
Works with engineers and tool designers to develop and modify tools, interpreting blueprints, databases, specifications, and diagrams.
Checks work with precision instruments.
Nature of Duties
Make intelligent decisions for mold repair problems when supervisors are unavailable.
Work with extreme accuracy on any type of tool work.
Set up and operate all machine tools and equipment, using hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
Heat‑treat small tool and die parts, make special cutters and mills, and dress grinding wheels as needed.
Perform TIG welding, repair and replace parts in hydraulic equipment.
Install and maintain electrical items (heaters and sensors) on plastic injection mold tooling.
Make ejector pins, core pins, gate changes, K.O. bars, clean and polish mold cavities.
Use basic computer skills.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Prefer 2‑year degree in Machine Tool with 2–4 years of tooling experience in a manufacturing environment.
Experience in Tool & Die building or repairs is a plus.
