Education and Experience
Graduate of an accredited nursing school
Current Registered Nurse License in the state of Maine (BSN preferred)
Current American Heart Association BLS certification (Required)
Preferred
One year of nursing experience

Responsibilities The RN manages individualized direct patient care for pediatric to geriatric patients, promotes and restores health through the nursing process, collaborates with physicians and a multidisciplinary team, provides an exceptional patient experience, and functions as the patient advocate while actively following the plan of care and responding to changes in patient condition.
Essential Duties
Obtains nursing history, performs nursing assessment, and develops a plan of care for patients.
Demonstrates the ability to perform a head‑to‑toe assessment on all patients and reassess as per policy, including adult, geriatric, and general patients.
Prioritizes during high‑acuity situations and performs patient care tailored to the patient’s age and condition.
Demonstrates knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age and clinical condition.
Follows the five medication rights to reduce medication errors.
Assists physicians with procedures and performs technical and manual tasks.
Starts peripheral IVs.
Cares for post‑surgical patients.
Treats patients and families with respect and dignity.
Addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs of patients and families.
Acts as liaison between administration, patients, physicians, and other healthcare providers.
Interacts professionally with patients/families and provides appropriate care and information based on patient status.
Utilizes knowledge of growth and development to provide age‑appropriate care.
Interprets patient data to identify age‑specific needs.
Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes safety and reduces errors.
Participates in performance improvement and CQI activities.
Consults other health team members/departments as appropriate to provide interdisciplinary care.
Communicates clearly to the Nurse Leader, Director, and other providers.
Maintains a good working relationship within the department and with other departments.
Documentation meets current standards and policies.
Operates equipment safely and correctly.
Coordinates and supervises patient care as necessary.
Demonstrates flexibility, organization, and stress management.
Maintains a safe, comfortable, therapeutic environment for patients and families.
Enhances professional growth through educational programs and ongoing education.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
