Mental Health Therapist II – Outpatient Services
Location:
Akron Children’s Hospital – Massillon Primary Care
Sign‑On Bonus:
$10,000 (Dependent) – $15,000 (Independent)
Hours:
Full‑time, 40 hrs/week, 7:30 am–5 pm, Monday–Friday
Summary:
The Mental Health Therapist II applies graduate‑level counseling and social‑work skills, independently licensed as required by the Ohio state boards. Responsibilities include psychosocial assessment, delivery of clinical interventions, case management, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive patient and family psychosocial assessment and triage care accordingly.
Communicate with staff regarding assessment, treatment, and interdisciplinary care plans through documentation and patient‑rounding meetings.
Provide competent care for the physical, psychological, social, educational, and safety needs of patients, regardless of age.
Deliver case management, consulting, and collaboration with hospital and community professionals to provide comprehensive care.
Use evidence‑based trauma and risk-assessment tools and apply crisis-intervention skills, determining formally the need for referral to the Emergency Department or suitable community agency.
Complete ethical and timely documentation as expected by the department.
Perform additional duties as required.
Add‑On Services
Outpatient: Complete CBT interventions and other evidence‑based modalities to assist patients and families in completing individualized service plans.
PHP/IOP: Use CBT and DBT through individual, group, and family therapy to support clients in achieving therapeutic goals.
PIRC: Conduct risk assessments, triage intake calls, perform diagnostic assessment via telephone or telehealth, and develop crisis treatment plans.
Substance Use: Deliver CBT, motivational interviewing, involve family in therapy, and provide behavior‑modification techniques.
Technical & Clinical Skills
Experience with electronic medical record software (EPIC preferred).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
Experience delivering clinical services via telehealth (preferred).
Education & Experience
Master’s in Social Work or Clinical Mental/Behavioral Health Counseling.
Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), or Licensed Independent Marriage and Family Therapist (IMFT) required.
For SUD positions: LCDC II, LCDC III, or LICDC preferred.
Minimum 3 years of relevant clinical experience.
Preferred: supervision endorsement from the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board.
Must meet Akron Children’s Hospital Medical Staff Credentialing/Privileging criteria.
No supervisory experience required.
