In this role, you will:
Care for admitted patients boarding in the Emergency Department, ensuring safe and efficient care as they transition to inpatient units.
Develop acute care skills in a high‑acuity setting with exposure to emergency workflows and protocols.
Collaborate closely with ED and inpatient teams to ensure smooth patient transitions and continuity of care.

Summary Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Reporting and accountable to the Nurse Manager/Director, the Clinical Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.
Responsibilities
Education: Participate in identifying and meeting learning needs of self; attend education programs based on identified learning needs; use patient education materials; assess readiness to learn of patient/family/caregivers; assess developmental level of patient and factors affecting ability to learn.
Evaluation of Care: Identify expected patient outcomes; seek guidance as needed in revision of plan of care; participate in discussion with interdisciplinary team; communicate relevant information to promote continuity of care.
Implementation: Demonstrate competence in care of patients with complex problems; perform bedside point‑of‑care testing as required; utilize healthcare organization and nursing standards, policies and procedures; organize and prioritize care; consult with appropriate resources in a timely fashion.
Leadership: Develop goals to promote professional growth or minimize limitations; achieve goals within identified timeframe or renegotiate with supervisor; facilitate intra/interdepartmental collaboration; participate in unit goals and performance improvement; promote cost‑effective care; give feedback to co‑workers; promote a safe, clean and secure hospital environment.
Patient Assessment: Recognize data from complex situations to determine priorities for care; synthesize assessment data; assess and anticipate discharge needs; develop relationships with families.
Planning: Collaborate with patient/family to prepare or update plan of care; use multidisciplinary resources; identify cultural and ethnic issues; prioritize tasks.
Research: Read journals containing applicable studies; bring ideas and questions for staff assessment.
Qualifications
Education Requirements:
Graduation from a school of professional nursing; if hired after January 6, 2014, must be enrolled within four years of employment and obtain a Bachelor’s degree with a major in Nursing or a Master’s degree within seven years.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina; Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
Professional Experience Requirements:
One (1) year of nursing experience.
