Lead Physician Assistant (Outpatient) Adventist Health – Lodi Memorial – San Joaquin County, CA

Job Summary Responsible for providing expert clinical care in a general or specialty area. Assesses, plans, and provides patient care in collaboration with the attending physician. Provides comprehensive health assessment, medical diagnosis of acute and chronic illnesses, writes prescriptions, and formulates a treatment plan. Assumes total care of patients under physician direction. Acts as clinical lead, advisor to the Medical Director, and claims coordinator for patient care. Assists in training and development of department medical providers. Supervises Medical Assistants and other licensed nursing staff. Mentors, develops, inspires, educates, and leads staff members in the patient care setting.

Essential Functions

Interview patients, employees, and/or family members; construct comprehensive medical histories; perform initial and periodic physical examinations; evaluate patient behavior and explore patient’s interpretation of health needs.

Provide appropriate patient education, including explaining diagnosis, treatment and prognosis, securing informed consent for procedures, and instructing patients on health maintenance and preventive care.

Maintain continuity of care: discuss treatment plans, administer medications and injections, follow up on acute and chronic problems, and review abnormal test results.

Document patient care meticulously, including problem records, medication records, discharge records, drug allergies, lab orders, subjective and objective data, diagnostic procedures, patient education, and treatment.

Use cost‑containment measures by prescribing only clinically necessary medications, preferring generics when appropriate, and ordering only necessary referrals and diagnostic procedures.

Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP): Required

Two years’ relevant clinical experience: Preferred

Licenses / Certifications

Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice: Required

Nurse Practitioner (NP) licensure in state of practice: Required

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS‑BLS OR RQIBLS) certification: Required
