The New Product Introduction (NPI) Procurement Specialist will support the successful launch of next-generation Thermal Management System (TMS) products for advanced aerospace platforms, including hybrid‑electric, eVTOL, and next‑generation conventional aircraft.
This role is focused on early supplier engagement, prototype sourcing, and transition to production working closely with R&D, Engineering, Program Management, Quality, and Operations. The NPI Procurement Specialist ensures that suppliers are capable, responsive, and aligned with technical, cost, quality, and schedule requirements as new products move from concept through qualification and into production.
Requirements
NPI Sourcing & Supplier Engagement
Source and onboard suppliers for prototype, development, and low‑rate initial production (LRIP) of TMS components, including pumps, compressors, fans, controllers, sensors, heat exchangers, and liquid‑cooled modules
Support supplier selection during early design phases based on technical capability, responsiveness, cost, and scalability
Coordinate RFQs, supplier evaluations, and award recommendations for NPI programs
Support the execution of development agreements, prototypes orders, and early production contracts
Program & Engineering Support
Act as the procurement focal point for assigned NPI programs from concept through production readiness
Collaborate with Engineering and R&D to translate BOMs, drawings, and specifications into supplier requirements
Support supplier participation in design‑for‑manufacturing (DFM), design‑for‑cost, and value‑engineering activities
Track long‑lead items and ensure timely availability of prototype and qualification hardware
Supplier Readiness & Risk Management
Assess supplier readiness for technical capability, capacity, quality systems, and schedule
Support supplier TRL/MRL tracking and manufacturing readiness reviews
Identify supply risks early and implement mitigation plans (alternate suppliers, schedule recovery actions)
Coordinate supplier technical reviews and follow up on action items
Cost, Quality & Compliance
Support cost estimating, price analysis, and should‑cost activities for new products
Ensure suppliers meet applicable aerospace and customer requirements, including AS9100, DO‑160, MIL‑STD, and program‑specific standards
Partner with Quality and Operations to support first article inspections (FAI) and supplier qualification activities
Assist in resolving early supplier quality or delivery issues during development and ramp‑up
Cross‑Functional Coordination
Interface daily with Program Management, Engineering, Quality, Operations, and Supply Chain to support NPI schedules and milestones
Support handoff from NPI to sustaining/procurement teams at production release
Maintain accurate procurement data in ERP and PLM systems
Provide regular status updates on supplier performance & risk for NPI programs
Professional Experience / Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or Business
5‑8 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain roles, with strong exposure to NPI or development programs
Experience sourcing mechanical, thermal, or electro‑mechanical components in aerospace, automotive, or energy industries preferred
Experience building relationships with suppliers who handle commodities such as tubing, ducting, pumps, and electrical
Working knowledge of thermal management systems, fluid systems, or electro‑mechanical components
Familiarity with high‑voltage or electrified systems is a plus
Experience with RFQs, cost analysis, supplier selection, and contract execution
Proficient with ERP, PLM, and procurement tools
Highly organized with strong attention to detail and schedule management
Effective communicator who is able to work in fast‑paced, cross‑functional environments
Proactive problem‑solver with a hands‑on, execution‑focused mindset
Ability to manage multiple NPI programs simultaneously
