JOB SUMMARY The operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating process‑specific machines and equipment that convert materials into WIP or finished product. The operator runs machines to meet established production requirements and performs activities related to safe machine operation, set‑up, changeover, scheduled preventive maintenance, machine service, quality, documentation, housekeeping, and sanitation.

Essential Job Functions / Duties

Run converting machines at established rates, follow the production schedule, continuously monitor machine performance, and document variables that may cause downtime.

Complete process and machine‑specific make‑readies, install components, set up the machine according to product requirements, and perform changeovers.

Monitor machine indicators such as lights and gauges to detect malfunctions and troubleshoot to maintain operation.

Perform adjustments and service on machine/equipment as required by the process.

Carry out preventative and machine‑specific repair/service tasks.

Conduct machine cleaning and service, including maintenance of glue systems and auxiliary equipment.

Use RF scanner to record transactions in the Warehouse Management System (WMS) and generate labels.

Maintain process‑specific production supplies and materials (glue, tape, bags, etc.) using a pallet jack.

Conduct quality checks and adjust machines to resolve issues.

Record data on specified forms and complete required line documentation.

Communicate production and machine issues to supervisors and other personnel.

Perform housekeeping and machine sanitation.

Assist other operators and relieve line personnel during breaks.

Assist in training process operators, helpers, feeders, and packers.

Comply with company policies and regulations including GMP, PPE, HACCP, LOTO, and JSA.

Ensure product safety, quality, regulatory compliance, and legality of all products produced.

Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; trade school preferred.

Experience: 3+ years of equivalent experience or 1+ year of machine operator experience in a fast‑paced environment.

Other Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Operate manual or electric pallet jack. Use RF scanner for WMS transactions. Use hand tools. Operate machines and electronic or manual controls. Understand mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.

Language skills: read, understand, and comprehend safety rules and operating procedures; communicate production issues effectively.

Mathematical skills: basic arithmetic, counting, and measurement using tools such as a ruler.

Working Conditions

Safety glasses with side shields, hearing protection, and steel‑toed shoes required; task‑specific PPE may be needed.

The role involves continuous hand and finger use, reaching, bending, moving within the work area, occasional stair climbing, pushing and pulling, and communication.

May involve positioning up to 50 pounds.

Physical Demands The employee must be able to use hands and fingers to position objects, reach with arms, bend, get up and down stairs, push and pull, and speak. Visual requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Reasonable accommodations may be provided for disabilities.
