Nationally certified Advanced Practice Provider who provides primary and/or specialty care in a variety of healthcare settings. Functions in collaboration with the health care team in accordance with certification and licensure. Practice emphasizes health promotion, disease prevention and the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic health problems. Responsible for dissemination of knowledge through instructing, leading and developing educational programs.

The Cleveland Clinic Hematology Oncology Department at Hillcrest Hospital is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our Outpatient Hematology/Oncology team. This role offers a unique opportunity to practice within one of the nation’s most respected healthcare systems, while providing personalized, high-quality cancer care in a community-based setting.

The APP will collaborate with supervising hematology/oncology physicians to manage adult patients with a variety of hematologic and oncologic conditions. Primary responsibilities include conducting follow‑up visits, managing treatment‑related symptoms and toxicities, coordinating care, and supporting patient education and survivorship planning. The position is strictly outpatient, with no call, weekend or holiday requirements, offering an excellent work‑life balance.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and follow‑ups in the outpatient clinic.

Collaborate with supervising physicians to manage chemotherapy and immunotherapy care plans.

Monitor and manage side effects of treatment and symptom burden.

Order and interpret diagnostic tests and labs as appropriate.

Educate patients and caregivers on disease processes, medications, and care plans.

Coordinate care with infusion services, primary care, and specialty providers as needed.

Participate in quality improvement efforts and multidisciplinary team meetings.

Preferred Qualifications

Current Ohio licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (Family, Adult, or Acute Care) or Physician Assistant.

National certification through an approved certifying body (AANP, ANCC, or NCCPA).

Oncology or internal medicine experience preferred; new graduates with strong interest in oncology will be considered.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively in a team environment.

Detailed Responsibilities

Conduct thorough medical histories, perform complete physical examinations (where indicated), initiate appropriate lab, radiology or other special tests for evaluation of illness, and scrutinize lab data to establish the patient’s current health status and develop a working diagnosis and treatment plan. Works in collaboration with the health care team.

Perform and interpret common laboratory, radiologic, cardiographic and other routine diagnostic procedures used to identify pathophysiologic processes as credentialed and privileged by the Medical Executive Committee.

Perform routine and specialized procedures as credentialed and privileged by the Medical Executive Committee.

Prescribe and monitor medications as allowed by license through applicable state board and Cleveland Clinic policies.

Educate patients and answer questions regarding disease, treatments, related drug and treatment side effects and hazards.

Participate in medical team rounds; collaborate with nursing, medical and other healthcare team members to ensure quality patient care.

Refer patients to specialists as appropriate for consultation or specialized health resources and treatment.

Ensure continuity of care by serving as a liaison between patient and other members of the multi‑disciplinary care team or other specialty areas as necessary.

Participate in quality monitoring through review of records and treatment plans for patient outcomes on a periodic basis to assure quality care.

Facilitate appropriate length of stay, discharge planning and compliance with regulatory standards for inpatient management.

Support professional development of the health care team.

Promote translation of evidence‑based practices, guidelines and research.

May conduct research studies and assist in data collection and analysis.

May serve as clinical preceptor for students and onboard new caregivers.

Other duties as assigned.

Education & Licensing

Effective 05/01/2014: MSN required upon hire or within 3 years of hire for external hires and for internal hires moving from a non‑APRN licensed role to an APRN licensed role.

Graduate of an accredited APRN program.

Master’s Degree required upon hire for neonatal care service area.

Graduate of an A.R.C. approved Physician Assistant Program.

Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies and/or higher degree from a program recognized by the state Licensing Board.

Must have arrangements with at least one physician in accordance with state Board of Nursing requirements.

Must be credentialed and privileged by the Medical Executive Committee and the Governing Body of the applicable hospitals.

Languages

Oral and written communication in English.

Certifications

Currently licensed as a Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Nurse Specialist or Physician Assistant in applicable state(s).

Must be licensed as an RN in applicable state(s).

National certification recognized by state board.

Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) may be required based on work setting.

For PAs: must have Physician Supervision Agreement and signed addendum to Physician Supervision Agreement.

Work Experience

Related clinical experience preferred.

Physical and Personal Protective Equipment Requirements

Typical physical demands include walking and standing for long periods of time, manual and finger dexterity and eye/hand coordination to perform physical examinations, and the ability to lift weights up to 50 pounds.

Requires corrected vision and hearing to a normal range.

May require exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range Minimum Annual Salary: $92,620.00

Maximum Annual Salary: $157,480.00

The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. Actual compensation may be higher or lower than the standard range, depending on factors such as job responsibilities, relevant experience, skills, scheduling requirements, education, and area of licensure. Please note, the displayed pay range does not include additional pay practices or the value of Cleveland Clinic's comprehensive benefits package (including healthcare, dental and vision coverage, retirement savings contributions, and more). The listed range is based on a full‑time (1.0 FTE) with the exception of PRN positions, which have an hourly rate based on the position type.
