Position Overview
San Bernardino County Fire Protection District is seeking a
Firefighter Paramedic
to serve in the Firefighter series. Successful completion of the Tower (Academy) and certification as a paramedic will result in appointment to a full-time
Firefighter – Paramedic
role with annual compensation up to
$120,369.92
plus a $710/month paramedic stipend. Responsibilities
Participate in fire prevention, suppression, and emergency medical response operations. Learn and apply fire prevention and suppression equipment and apparatus care, usage, safety, and maintenance. Maintain knowledge of fire terminology, codes, policies, procedures, and operational standards as governed by state and local laws. Complete the Tower (Academy), Firefighter I and II Certifications, and obtain ICEMA Paramedic Accreditation. Perform all physical assessment tasks including beep test, pull‑ups, push‑ups and sit‑ups as required. Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required; valid driver’s license highly desirable. Current
ICEMA Paramedic Accreditation
and
California Paramedic License
(or Nationally Registered Paramedic Certification) at the time of application. Valid California Paramedic License OR Nationally Registered Paramedic (NRP) Certification current and in good standing. Current
ACLS
&
CPR/BLS
certifications. Completion of the Tower (Academy) and Firefighter I & II Certifications through the California State Fire Service Training and Education System. Physical Requirements
Must be able to perform during high‑stress situations. Must have vision correctable to 20/20; may need to pass a color perception test. Must be able to lift and carry equipment and individuals and wear a self‑contained breathing apparatus. Physical Assessment
Beep Test – continuous shuttle run (multi‑stage) between markers 20m apart. Pull‑Ups – minimum number within time limit. Push‑Ups – minimum number within time limit. Sit‑Ups – minimum number within time limit. FCTC Statewide Eligibility List (SEL) Minimum Requirements
18 years of age or older. Valid driver’s license. High school diploma or GED. Valid Cal‑JAC CPAT Card (results automatically uploaded by FCTC). Passing score on the FCTC Written Test – 80% or higher (score expires 12 months from date taken). Benefits
