Position Title
Technician I – Full Time, Days – UCHC MSCF at Midstate Correctional Facility, Wrightstown, NJ
Overview University Correctional Health Care (UCHC), operating within Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is dedicated to providing physical, mental health, dental and sex offender treatment services to those involved in the criminal justice system in New Jersey. Responsibilities
Takes vital signs, height and weight and documents in electronic medical records (EMR).
Assists the physician or associate practitioner with procedures, including preparing the inmate for the examination.
Obtains specimen collection and handling, including, but not limited to, drawing blood.
Assists with the cleaning, sterilization and securing of equipment within the Health Service Unit.
Maintains or assists in maintaining the supply stock in the Health Service Unit by ordering in a timely and appropriate manner.
Maintains the supply stock in the examination rooms.
Aggregates the orders of all medications and forwards them to the pharmacy provider or local pharmacy.
Minimum Education and Experience
Valid Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) certification.
At least two (2) years of progressively more responsible related healthcare experience involving multiple areas of knowledge, skill, and abilities and demonstrating competencies to perform the essential duties of the position.
Certifications / Licenses
Valid driver’s license is required. Must possess own vehicle or alternative means of transportation from one site to another.
CPR certification.

Physical Demands and Work Environment As a first responder must have the physical capacity to perform CPR for at least 10 minutes. Physically able to assist in lifting and rotating patients who are unable to ambulate (up to 50 pounds).
Special Conditions Must be approved by the Department of Corrections (DOC) and adhere to all DOC requirements.
