This position is responsible for supervising and investigating adult criminal offenders who have been determined to need specialized intensive supervision or require special investigative efforts and are on or seeking release to probation, parole, work releases, a community residential center or grant of pardon. Public safety is the utmost concern in the execution of all duties.

Experience Requirements Two years of experience as a probation or parole officer, or in counseling, psychology, social work, education, criminal justice, or administrative services plus one of the following:
Three years of experience in corrections or law enforcement.
Three years of continuous active military duty (all Military Occupational Specialties apply).
Six years of full-time experience in any field.
A bachelor's degree.
OR
One year of experience as a probation or parole officer, or in counseling, psychology, social work, education, criminal justice, or administrative services plus a master’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work, education, business administration, public administration, or a criminal justice field.
Experience Substitution Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full‑time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours, which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
Necessary Special Requirements
An applicant who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or a felony, or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.
Possession of a current Louisiana driver's license.
This position requires the incumbent to handle and carry firearms.
Possession of an active Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification.
Job Duties
Manages high‑risk offender caseloads
by conducting investigations and providing intensive supervision for individuals who pose a significant threat to public safety, including violent offenders, sex offenders, gang‑affiliated individuals, and medically contagious offenders.
Ensures compliance with supervision conditions
by monitoring sex offender registration requirements, administering and evaluating drug tests, and coordinating and supervising community service and work program participation.
Provides functional leadership and field oversight
for Probation and Parole Officers I–III, including conducting preliminary violation hearings, supporting arrests and offender transport, managing crisis interventions, and planning and monitoring field training and orientation activities.
Serves as acting unit leader when delegated , assuming supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the Probation and Parole Supervisor and providing broad programmatic support to the District Manager or Program Manager.
Oversees offender programming and facility operations
by managing cases in work release, sheriff maintenance, and community residential (halfway house) programs; supporting the IMPACT initiative; conducting jail operations and disciplinary hearings; and performing contract and compliance audits for Community Rehabilitation Centers.
Plans, implements, and evaluates program strategies
in accordance with ACA standards, ensuring all activities meet regulatory timeframes and requirements while making informed decisions on safety measures, including the application of Pressure Point Control Tactics (PPCT).
Position‑Specific Details Appointment Type : Promotion of a permanent, classified employee of LA DPS&C – CORRECTIONS SERVICES (Adult DOC)
The selected employee may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted or may be required to accept a probational appointment.
Compensation : This position has a Special Entrance Rate (SER) of $30.57 per hour.

The maximum amounts listed are the maximum salary amounts a person can make at each level over their career and NOT the amount we are allowed to pay a new hire.
Other Important Information
Any degree, certificate, special license, or DD‑214 must be verified by official documentation prior to hire.
Any qualifying experience that is based on college credit/college hours should have an accompanying transcript for verification. This is a 24‑hour facility.
