Overview Practice Manager at Penn Medicine, University of Pennsylvania Health System. The Practice Manager provides strategic operational leadership, supervision, and direction for all administrative, financial, regulatory, quality, human resources, patient/employee satisfaction, and clinical aspects of the practice.

Scope includes supervising 10+ staff members, managing a budgeted 15,000+ annual visits, and handling complex practice factors such as multiple locations, high square footage, service line oversight, coordination of inpatient and interdepartmental care, academic involvement, and external partnerships.

Responsibilities

Ensure efficient daily operations: patient scheduling, billing, service coordination, quality initiatives, financial goal attainment, and regulatory compliance.

Maintain a patient/customer focus through satisfaction metrics and proactive service improvement.

Provide a collaborative work environment, supporting professional ownership and accountability for physicians and staff.

Regularly review work processes to enhance efficiency, implementing technology and best practices.

Serve as liaison to embedded specialists, external stakeholders, and other UPHS providers, acting as the point person for facility management.

Build and maintain internal relationships with employees, physicians, and other stakeholders to improve communication and performance.

Develop and implement strategic plans, budgets, and performance measures in collaboration with leadership teams.

Lead patient care processes, ensuring high quality, safe, and efficient service delivery.

Oversee clinical effectiveness and quality improvement initiatives, supporting the attainment of clinical targets.

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including HIPAA, OSHA, and other relevant standards.

Manage financial responsibilities: payroll, timecard review, budget variance analysis, revenue cycle oversight, and managed care contract support.

Recruit, retain, and develop staff, conducting performance management and career development plans.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.

Equivalent education and at least 4+ years of relevant experience, including 1+ year of management experience in a healthcare setting.

Preferred: Associate of Arts or Science degree.

Strong communication, leadership, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.

Ability to manage complex practice operations and multi‑disciplinary teams.

Compensation $59,737.60 – $99,569.60 annually based on a 40‑hour work week. Salaries are adjusted for experience and education.
