Job Description This position acts as the primary liaison to prospective, new, and currently enrolled students in assigned programs college-wide and on the Thief River Falls campus. The incumbent serves as the primary advisor on individual and group advising, and teaches others how to advise. The role also provides college-wide recruiting services as needed and coordinates the Thief River Falls annual campus graduation ceremony.
Act as a comprehensive advocate and advisor for students to ensure their success.
Collaborate with Academic & Student Affairs personnel to assess and improve first‑year student experiences by addressing equity gaps.
Coordinate the Thief River Falls graduation ceremony.
Minimum Qualifications
Three years of related professional work experience; a master’s degree may substitute for 18 months professional work experience; a bachelor’s degree may substitute for 12 months professional work experience; an associate degree may substitute for 6 months professional work experience.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of student development.
Experience with computer software applications and systems with the ability to create business correspondence, reports, and presentations.
Ability to work with minimal supervision and independently make decisions regarding workload and routine problems and/or situations.
Problem‑solving skills with the ability to set priorities, reason analytically, determine alternative solutions, and analyze and interpret information with a high degree of accountability and accuracy.
Excellent organizational, planning, and management skills.
Strong interpersonal communication skills (written and oral) to communicate effectively without supervision or review, including public‑speaking skills to present information in a clear and actionable way to small and large groups.
Ability to work as part of a team.
Ability to explain and help interpret complex policies involving multiple departments, systems, and levels, such as records and registration, financial aid, business services, bookstore, and admissions.
Preferred Qualification
Baccalaureate Degree in a related field, e.g., Human Resources, Public Administration, Social Work
Experience in higher education
Experience in developing academic plans
Knowledge of data privacy practices and FERPA
Experience providing academic and/or employment case management
