Job Summary The Site Safety Coordinator acts as the front‑line safety professional, conducting inspections, investigations, training, and ensuring regulatory compliance with OSHA, DOT, EPA, and MasTec Utility Services requirements. The Coordinator anticipates hazards, evaluates risk, and provides advice and counseling on safety, health, and environmental laws, codes, and company standards.

Responsibilities

Assist local management in investigating work‑related incidents to determine causes and contributing factors.

Develop mitigation measures and corrective actions based on observation findings and inspection deficiencies to reduce recurring hazards.

Conduct or facilitate training and education programs for supervisory and field employees through formal classes, safety meetings, or other venues.

Administer recordkeeping and documentation to comply with safety training policies and requirements in the assigned area.

Recommend safe work processes and demonstrate personal protective equipment to reduce employee exposure to workplace and environmental hazards.

Ensure tools, equipment, vehicles, and technical instruments are fit‑for‑purpose, functional, calibrated, and protected by appropriate safety systems.

Qualifications

3–4 years of electric safety experience (substation, transmission, or overhead/underground distribution).

Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience of 4 years.

Knowledge of OSHA‑referenced safe work practices for substation, transmission, or distribution work.

Strong communication skills, including active listening and clear presentation of safety information.

Logical reasoning to evaluate alternatives and implement solutions.

Ability to monitor and assess performance to improve safety outcomes.

Bi‑lingual in Spanish.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience as a Lead Lineman, Foreman, or other supervisory role.

OSHA Outreach Training Instructor (Construction) certification.

Current or pursuing certifications such as Construction Health & Safety Technician (CHST) or Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP).

Knowledge of accident investigation using root‑cause analysis principles.

Physical Demands and Work Environment This position operates in a professional office environment and is primarily sedentary. The role may involve some filing or lifting; the employee must be able to bend, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds.
