Job Title
Van Driver
Job Summary Responsible for the safe transport of staff and residents/patients, ensuring prompt arrival and departure times to and from the facility and designated locations as requested.
Shift Full‑time, 40 hours per week
Rate $20 per hour
Required Licenses & Certifications
Valid NYS driver’s license in good standing
CPR certification
CDL A or B required (Passenger P certificate preferred)
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Coordinate the driving schedule with the facility social worker or designee.
Coordinate the availability of the bus and arrange supervision of residents when family is not available.
Maintain a daily trip log and submit it at the end of each month to the Administrator.
Submit monthly mileage logs to the Administrator.
Maintain van/mechanical operations and ensure cleanliness of the van/bus.
Complete a daily van/bus checklist.
Report and correct any safety concerns or violations.
Assist in general maintenance duties, including building clean‑up and routine upkeep of exterior areas, green space, and parking lot.
Assist with non‑routine cleaning and preventive maintenance of equipment, generator testing, fire drills, sharps container inspections, and water temperature testing.
Perform and/or assist with carpentry, plumbing, painting, masonry, plastering, mechanical and electrical work within the facility.
Operate power and hand tools such as drills, saws, lathes, grinders, sanders, cutters, crimpers, wrenches, hammers, shovels, snow blowers, and other miscellaneous tools.
Check daily building, grounds, and facilities for damage or malfunctions.
Monitor safety hazards and take remedial action.
Ensure walkways, parking lots, and common areas are free of snow, properly salted, and properly lit.
Maintain grounds, cut grass, pick up branches, garbage, clean drains, erect and repair fencing, trim bushes.
Responsible for all inside and outside building and grounds repairs.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Required Skills & Abilities
Clean driving record.
Ability to work independently.
Excellent time‑management skills.
Ability to identify and respond to hazards quickly.
Drive within speed limits and maintain a safe distance from other vehicles.
Avoid distractions while driving.
Qualifications / Education Minimum: High School degree or equivalent.
Experience Minimum: Clean driving record and previous van/bus driving experience, especially in a medical setting.
