Job Summary Perform high complexity clinical molecular assays in a fast-paced laboratory setting, utilizing molecular knowledge and skills gained through clinical molecular experience, training and formal education. Develop, validate, and implement high-complexity molecular assays to improve transplant outcomes and advance personalized medicine. Adhere to and promote regulatory compliance throughout validation, testing, quality assurance, and quality control.

Essential Functions of the Role

Molecular assay development, validation, and implementation.

Perform high-complexity molecular testing of clinical samples using multiple NGS platforms and applications.

Perform high-complexity molecular testing using PCR, RT-PCR, and nucleic acid purification.

Ensure testing is in compliance with departmental procedures, protocols, and regulatory standards.

Quality assurance and quality control for all molecular procedures performed.

Instrument evaluation, maintenance, and calibration.

Troubleshoot nonconforming data, assay performance, and instrument function.

Critically analyze, interpret, and accurately report results.

Educate and train laboratory staff in molecular techniques and assays.

Perform other position‑appropriate duties as required in a competent, professional, and courteous manner.

Key Success Factors

Extensive knowledge of molecular biology principles and techniques (DNA sequencing, PCR, RT‑PCR, nucleic acid purification).

Experience in primer design, sequencing applications, RNA extraction, cfDNA extraction, and human lymphocyte subpopulation isolation.

Benchmark bench skills adhering to all applicable clinical laboratory standards, regulations, protocols, and procedures.

Proficiency with liquid‑handling systems and flow‑cytometry basics.

Experience with bioinformatics pipelines and tools.

Self‑motivated, analytical, and critical‑thinking abilities.

Skilled documentation and procedure writing.

Effective communication skills for collaboration, training, and education.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (or 4 years of work experience above the minimum qualification).

Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in a clinical molecular laboratory.

Certification/License/Registration:

Must hold at least one of the following:

ASCP‑BloodBanking Technologist (ASCP‑BB), ASCP‑Chemistry Technologist (ASCP‑C), ASCP‑Cytogenetics Technologist (ASCP‑CG), ASCP‑Cytologist (ASCP‑CT), ASCP‑Hematology Technologist (ASCP‑H), ASCP‑Microbiology Technologist (ASCP‑M), Molecular Biology Technologist (ASCP‑MB), ASCP‑Blood Banking Specialist (ASCP‑SBB), ASCP‑Chemistry Specialist (ASCP‑SC), ASCP‑Hematology Specialist (ASCP‑SH), ASCP‑Microbiology Specialist (ASCP‑SM), Cert Histocompatibility Spec (CHS‑ABHI)
