Job Summary Looking for a new challenge? Join the growing solar industry as a Solar Operations Technician at the Garland Solar Facility near Rosamond, CA. Technicians will also support the Garland BESS (Battery Energy Storage System), Gaskell West, and Adobe Solar Facilities in Kern County, CA.
Facility Overview
Garland Solar: 2,000 acres, 800,000 modules, 205 MW production.
Garland BESS: 88 MW storage, 352 MWh total.
Gaskell West Solar: 280 acres, 85,000 Canadian Solar modules with tracking, 20 MW output.
Adobe Solar Facility: 160 acres, 80,000 SunEdison/MEMC mono‑crystalline modules, single‑axis tracking, SMA inverters, 20 MW capacity.
Responsibilities
Operate and maintain utility‑scale solar photovoltaic electric systems.
Monitor, troubleshoot, and repair the plant’s electrical and mechanical equipment.
Maintain plant maintenance records in the computer‑based work order system (Maximo®).
Participate in the plant system owner program.
Serve on Operations Review Board (ORB) action teams when required.
Work shift schedules, including nights.
Education and Experience
High School Graduate or equivalent.
2‑year College/Technical Degree or equivalent relevant work experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Electrical background is highly preferred.
Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
Solar utility‑scale inverter maintenance experience preferred (Advanced Energy, TMEIC, SMA, Power Electronics).
Strong technical background in electrical and electronic devices and equipment.
Instrumentation experience is a plus; experience with photovoltaic systems or variable‑speed drives desired.
Self‑starter able to work with little direction and follow directions when required.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions.
Apply principles of logical thinking and handle encountered situations.
Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills.
Independent operation of a solar plant and effective communication with stakeholders.
Physically capable of demanding activities (climbing stairs and ladders, lifting heavy equipment) in all weather.
Must pass pre‑employment skills testing: TECH – Technician Occupations.

Availability for 24/7 schedule, including holidays and night shifts as required.
