Job Description Your Job: In this highly technical, fast‑paced, and rewarding position, you’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to provide the very best care for patients. The Surgical Technician II Certified understands the procedure being performed and assures that all equipment, instrumentation, and supplies are available for the case. You anticipate the needs of the surgeon, handle the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure, and participate in setting up and turning over the operating room for cases.
Job Requirements
High School Diploma and/or GED equivalent
Graduate of a certified Surgical Technologist program, military trained, or ADN in Surgical Technology preferred
Basic Life Support certification
Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required
Advanced competencies in a minimum of 3 specialties (specialties to be determined by each hospital)
Job Responsibilities
Anticipate needs of the surgical team and obtain instrumentation and supplies for the procedure.
Pass instruments to surgeon and assistant during the procedure.
Assist with terminal cleaning of the room and preparation for the following case.
Begin cleaning up the back table and preparing instruments for terminal cleaning and sterilization as the circulator prepares the patient to leave the room.
Place instruments back in the tray for transport to SPD.
Know and adhere to all policy and procedures such as count policy, universal protocol, and labeling of medications, etc.
Work with students and inexperienced staff on correct methods for passing and retrieving instruments during surgical procedures.
Methodist Celina Medical Center is located on a 40+ acre campus just off of Dallas Parkway and will serve as the community’s first full-service hospital, serving Celina and surrounding communities. The four-story medical center will open with 51 beds, with plans for expansion, and will feature a range of services including cardiology, women’s services, orthopedics, robotic surgery, and more. The campus will also include a 40,000-square-foot medical office building.
