Position Overview The Division of Sport and Performance Psychology at the University of Rochester Medical Center is hiring a Mental Health and Performance Therapist. This practitioner will blend clinical mental health expertise with performance-enhancement skills within UR Medicine Fitness Science, a comprehensive athlete development program that integrates strength and conditioning, nutrition, and mental performance services for athletes and teams.

Responsibilities and Opportunities The Mental Health and Performance Therapist will provide care to athletes and elite performers in the newly built, state‑of‑the‑art Saunders Center for Orthopaedics & Physical Performance. The Center houses CHAMPP, the Center for Human Athleticism and Musculoskeletal Performance and Prevention, offering next‑generation orthopaedic medicine fully integrated with mental performance. The role requires collaboration across university departments, including URMC Motion Labs, URMC Psychiatry, and the Department of Psychology, and includes opportunities to work with functional movement‑based physical therapy, athletic performance training, computerized biomechanical motion analysis, and advanced injury risk assessment and prevention strategies.

Qualifications

Licensed mental health practitioner

Certified Mental Performance Consultant or eligibility to obtain certification within one year

Clinical and performance‑enhancement skills

Supervision by an approved mentor will be provided.
