Research Senior Technician - Pathology Department
Medicine | Pathology Position Summary
Research Technician to conduct complex scientific investigations in a foundational (basic) research laboratory in the Department of Pathology functioning as a specialist or technical expert in studying development and function of cortical interneurons; collaborates with Principal Investigator (PI) to develop, manage and implement research projects; plans, designs, and conducts complex & advanced research; plans and executes advanced molecular biological experiments; extracts, analyzes & evaluates experimental data; assists PI in research & development efforts of new research projects; works closely with PI to determine and develop goals of projects; develops and establishes criteria & research standards to meet goals of research projects; oversees appropriate maintenance of all laboratory equipment; negotiates and oversees equipment service contracts and repairs; participates in developing and implementing laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Safety Manual; monitors, oversees & ensures compliance to local, state and federal laboratory health and safety rules, regulations and guidelines; provides training of research staff in executing new research methods; serves as a consultant to other investigators in area of expertise; helps to prepare for inspections (e.g. IACUC, IBC, and controlled substances).
