Job Overview The Emergency Department Tech assists the health care professionals in the delivery of care to patients. The Tech provides care under the direction of RN/LPN/MD utilizing the skills and techniques established within the job description.
Qualifications Required:
High School Diploma or GED
BLS Certification through American Heart Association only
Successful completion of all Orientation Programs and Documentation
Preferred:
1 year patient care experience
Certifications and Licenses
BLS certification through American Heart Association
Scheduling Requirements
Days
Full Time 12 hour shifts
Mandatory Orientation
Essential Functions
Answers telephone/intercom in a polite manner and communicates information to appropriate personnel/family
Applies knee immobilizer, splints, slings, and ace bandages and assists with ambulation techniques
Assists with nutritional needs of patients under supervision of RN
Assists with patient positioning and repositioning as required
Communicates pertinent patient information to appropriate individual
Completes personal hygiene for patients
Complies with unit and department scheduling
Implements the policies and procedures of the hospital and Nursing Department
Initiates cardiac monitoring and performs 2 lead EKG
Performs phlebotomy and point of care testing
Prepares emergency equipment at bedside ie; suction, oxygen, IV equipment
Records patient intake and output
