Job Duties

Each department at UW‑LaCrosse maintains an ongoing search to serve as a pool of potential instructors for program needs. The instructor, when hired, will be under the general supervision of the relevant department chair.

The instructor is responsible for teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses, preparing for and holding classes (face‑to‑face, hybrid, and/or online).

Maintain currency in the content area, evaluate students’ work, assess student outcomes, provide feedback, maintain records, and hold office hours.

May advise students and/or provide other service to the department; additional duties may be assigned by chair or dean.

Key Job Responsibilities

Facilitates classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction for one or more courses, including assessment of student performance.

Develops instructional design and curriculum relevant to a course of instruction.

Serves as an initial point of contact for students as it relates to specific course or series content and expectations.

Department Student Affairs Administration

Required Qualifications Master’s Degree in a field appropriate to the needs of the department, or significant progress toward a doctorate degree, or, in rare circumstances, post‑baccalaureate certification or licensure, or a baccalaureate plus experience, can be established as appropriate qualifications for the teaching position. Depending on the program, specific certification/licensure or clinical experience may be required.
