General Summary
Works under the supervision of the Wellness Operations Manager. The Life Center Service Representative’s primary job function is to perform the duties necessary to meet the member’s needs. This includes enrolling new members and assisting current members with their queries, greeting members and users of the gym as they come through reception, checking in members and verifying memberships, registering prospective members and guiding them to the correct personnel, and providing assistance with inquiries about gym operations and policies. Representative is also responsible for the cleanliness and appearance of the fitness facility.
Responsibilities
Provide outstanding customer service by greeting and interacting with members at the front desk or fitness area.
Perform basic front desk duties including answering phones, processing member check‑ins and transactions, and referring corporate, EFT, and PRD questions to the supervisor.
Balance transaction and cash drawer at the end of each shift or day.
Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date member files in collaboration with the Wellness Operations Manager.
Demonstrate ability to instruct members in the use of strength training and cardiovascular equipment.
Maintain a safe workout environment by keeping the fitness area free of clutter and enforcing facility safety rules.
Maintain facility appearance by performing daily cleaning duties as instructed on cleaning logs.
Perform opening and closing duties of the facility, ensuring all computers, TVs, alarms, lights, and locker rooms are prepared for clients.
Stock soap and washcloths, empty linen carts, and keep floors clear in locker rooms.
Verify insurance benefits and obtain proper authorization and certification for qualifying insurance programs.
Troubleshoot member accounts and maintain correct payment information.
Complete opening and closing financial reports.
Maintain knowledge of Life Center supplements, products, and apparel, and perform sales of these items.
Perform routine registration of new members, updating member information including address changes and insurance updates.
Collect member payments and maintain a balanced cash drawer.
Assist in coordinating services for members with personal trainers and group fitness instructors.
Direct members and community members to outpatient rehab and cardiac rehab programs.
Perform account audits to ensure payment of contracts and services received by members.
Review security cameras during shifts to ensure proper member access and use of the facility.
Report any misconduct to management staff.
Perform monthly locker audits.
Qualifications
Education: Basic literacy skills and the ability to perform basic math calculations to handle money accurately.
Licensure: BLS required within 90 days of hire.
Experience: Customer service experience and computer/database experience preferred; previous experience in a fitness setting preferred.
