Company Insurance Program Managers Group (IPMG)

Overview IPMG is seeking a P&C Adjuster – Liability to join our claims management division. This individual is responsible for adjusting intermediate exposure automobile liability and general liability property damage and bodily injury claims, monitoring defense counsel compliance with our best practice litigation handling guidelines, and ensuring budget compliance.

Responsibilities

Follows Claims Best Practices, defined processes, and quality standards.

Secures contact with all relevant parties (insured, claimant, witnesses) to investigate liability using applicable state statutes.

Reviews claim correspondence and determines appropriate actions.

Evaluates liability claims and reports to excess carriers and reinsurers.

Reviews and interprets insurance policies for coverage determination.

Documentation & File Management

Maintains detailed file notes, timely diary entries, accurate coding, and meets claim closing goals.

Drafts and discusses coverage letters with clients and agents before sending.

Ensures accurate and timely claim transfers per service plans and guidelines.

Provides proactive updates to clients, claimants, and insureds.

Communicates clearly and professionally in both written and verbal formats.

Participates in client reviews, teleconferences, and occasional travel for claim reviews.

Follows through on all committed action items with stakeholders.

Reserving, Payments & Negotiations

Sets and adjusts reserves; authorizes or denies payments based on claim facts.

Negotiates settlements effectively, especially in complex cases with defense counsel.

Identifies and executes subrogation opportunities accurately.

Performance & Compliance

Meets all adjuster and leadership metric goals as outlined in scorecards.

Maintains 100% monthly claim closing ratio and current weekly diary.

Manages vendor costs efficiently and assigns vendors appropriately.

Professionalism & Development

Demonstrates urgency, ownership, and commitment to work.

Supports team and department initiatives.

Understands organizational goals and contributes to overall success.

Analyzes data to solve problems and supports implementation of initiatives.

Promotes collaboration and teamwork across departments.

Job Status & Hours This is a full‑time, exempt position. Core hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with 37.5 hours per week. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required. The role is hybrid, requiring 2‑3 days per week in the St. Charles, IL headquarters.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in business or related field.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills for reports.

Strong cost‑benefit analysis, decision‑making, and organizational skills.

Detail oriented and flexible with various service plan structures.

Preferred Qualifications

1‑2+ years of experience adjusting liability claims, including litigation management.

Familiarity with first‑party and liability claims handling.

Experience with multi‑jurisdictional tort law and federal law.

Experience reporting key exposures to excess carriers and reinsurers.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary range $60,000 – $65,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
