Material Specialist

Job Overview:
A Material Specialist loads, unloads, packages and moves materials within or near plant, yard, or worksite, including docked vessels.
Key Responsibilities
Conveys materials to or from storage or work sites to designated area.
Collects, packages, and clearly labels items or components to be shipped or inventoried using barcodes or manual tracking methods.
Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves.
Categorizes and classifies items being shipped or received.
Counts, weighs, and records number of units of materials received or prepared for shipment.
Loads materials into vehicles and installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage during transit.
Packages and/or builds crates to contract specifications for shipping and storage.
Operates forklift for material handling.
Performs physical inventories (with or without government representatives).
Responsible for cleaning and maintaining warehouse areas as assigned.
Responsible for performing minor maintenance to the office area and the grounds of the facility.
Qualifications
Six (6) months of material, warehousing or related field experience preferred.
Must have a valid driver's license with the ability to drive company vehicles.
Skills and Abilities
Able to communicate effectively with all team members.
Can receive and carry out verbal instructions.
Ability to operate a forklift preferred.
Ability to perform basic woodworking.
Knowledge and use of measuring standards (SAE or Metric).
May travel by land and air to load and outfit material onto docked marine vessels for customers.
