Houston Behavioral Healthcare Hospital (HBHH) currently has an opening for a Part‑time Utilization Management Coordinator. The Coordinator will report to the Director of Utilization Review and provide quality case‑management services to all patients and families, serving as a member of the interdisciplinary team that supports the organization’s treatment program and philosophy, and ensuring the delivery of quality treatment.
Duties
Assist with collecting information from patients and families to develop treatment and discharge plans.
Develop and coordinate an individualized discharge plan for the patient using treatment team and chart information to determine aftercare needs.
Coordinate individualized discharge planning with physicians.
Conduct reviews and communicate documentation as required by payor standards to obtain necessary certification and maximize reimbursement.
Act as liaison for both internal and external reviewers.
Help complete aftercare appointments within seven (7) days of discharge.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Basic understanding of human anatomy, specifically musculoskeletal.
Proficient use of CPT and ICD‑10 codes.
Excellent computer skills including Excel, Word and Internet use.
Excellent organizational skills.
Able to plan and prioritize to meet deadlines.
Excellent customer‑service skills with clear and effective communication.
Ability to multitask and remain focused while managing a high‑volume, time‑sensitive workload.
Job Types Part‑time
Schedule
Weekends with flexibility (3 days)
8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology or related field (preferred).
1 year experience in a medical–related field and/or prior authorization experience (preferred).
Experience in a psychiatric setting.
Knowledge of health‑care service delivery systems and third‑party reimbursement.
Knowledgeable of managed‑care environment.
Reliable and flexible.
Great customer‑service and team‑player skills.
