Position Purpose In accordance with the Mission and Guiding Behaviors, the Diet Clerk performs clerical and administrative duties in support of patients, clinical dietitians, and patient meal services. The Diet Clerk functions as a team member, is accountable for communications with the standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines of the organization.
What You Will Do
Visit all assigned patients, assisting the patient or family member with menu selections.
Respond to patient needs and requests in a timely manner.
Maintain patient confidentiality.
Communicate pertinent clinical information to the Clinical Dietitian and appropriate members of the patient care team.
Establish and maintain strong, positive communication with patients and families.
Check patient tray tickets against electronic medical record to ensure that tray ticket is accurate and consistent with diet order and patient preferences.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: High school graduate or equivalent; additional college training in dietetics or related field preferred. Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
Experience: Previous health care experience or demonstrated knowledge of dietetics and medical terminology preferred.
Knowledgeable in basic computer skills.
