This Position reports to: Quality Manager

The work model for the role is: Onsite, Pinetops, NC

Your role and responsibilities In the position of Quality Specialist you will act with Safety, Quality, Efficiency, and Productivity to ensure that products and systems meet stated requirements. Reporting to the Quality Manager you will employ various testing protocols, analyze the results, and apply standards to ensure that good quality is maintained. You will assist in developing test protocols to investigate the integrity of new and current materials. In addition, you will maintain proper laboratory procedures.

You will be mainly accountable for:

Perform chemical verification of in-process epoxy and urethane systems to ensure formulation accuracy, cure characteristics, and compliance with documented specifications; maintain records per ISO 9001 requirements.

Conduct incoming material inspections and confirmatory testing (e.g., viscosity, solids, NCO content) against Certificates of Analysis; apply acceptance criteria and control nonconforming product per QMS procedures.

Lead preventive and corrective actions (CAPA) based on chemical analysis results; utilize root cause analysis tools and update control plans to prevent recurrence, ensuring continual improvement per ISO 9001:2015; Evaluate laboratory capability and recommend equipment upgrades or replacements; develop justification reports and support implementation of validated methods to enhance measurement accuracy and efficiency.

Plan and execute internal audits of processes, documentation, and records; issue findings, verify corrective action effectiveness, and contribute to maintaining ISO 9001 compliance; Support Quality Management System (QMS) controls by maintaining documented procedures, training personnel, and preparing for customer and regulatory audits; ensure document control and traceability.

Qualifications for the role

Bachelor degree in Chemical Laboratory Analyst or related field (preferred) PLUS minimum 2 years of experience

Experience to include 1 year (preferred) in a laboratory setting with knowledge of test methodologies related to viscosity, density, gel time, etc.

A solution-focused approach and strong written and spoken communication skills

Experience working with different methodologies of RCA and CAPA

SAP experience, a plus

Candidates must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
