Job Purpose and Scope Provide learning activities and support to achieve course objectives and contribute to the educational environment of the college and community. Primary responsibilities include planning, developing, and teaching courses within the curriculum in a manner that facilitates student learning.
Essential Job Functions
Teach Computer Information Technology courses at various times and locations
Create engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of material
Submit required college reports and forms promptly
Utilize a course syllabus following institutional guidelines
Meet with and advise students via meetings, appointments, or electronic communication
Evaluate students to measure progress toward course objectives and inform them timely
Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community
Attend mandated meetings, trainings, and orientations
Perform other reasonable duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Mastery of course content
Demonstrated leadership, collaboration, teamwork, and facilitation
Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to appreciate alternative viewpoints and work effectively with diverse people
Interest in interdisciplinary teaching, service learning, learning technologies, and adult learning methodologies
Commitment to academic excellence and dynamic lifelong learning
Ability to develop and implement instructional approaches such as service learning, learning communities, and technology integration
Use effective strategies to engage students in learning
Physical Abilities The work is sedentary; typical duties include sitting, occasional walking, standing, bending, and carrying light items. No special physical demands are required.
Work Schedule and Conditions
Equipment includes PC workstation, Windows environment, calculator, phone, and general office equipment
Interaction with internal and external contacts as needed
Work performed in climate‑controlled classroom and/or lab with minimal safety hazards
Hours vary with class times; instructors must meet scheduled classes and be available to students outside instruction
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in computer science, computer information systems, computer information technology, computer engineering, or a related field
Master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in a specific area of technology
Compensation and Benefits Salary:
$55.44 per contact hour
