As a Clinician for Mobile Crisis, you will provide crisis risk assessments with a diagnosis (with appropriate supervisory approval, per scope of practice), crisis stabilization and interventions, de‑escalation techniques and follow‑up services to clients experiencing emotional, behavioral, and psychiatric crises. You will deliver these interventions by telephone and on‑site mobile visits, employing a strength‑based, trauma‑informed, systems‑oriented perspective. You will develop crisis prevention and safety plans, evaluate their effectiveness, coordinate services with existing treatment providers, and link clients to additional community‑based therapeutic resources and supports. You will report directly to the Clinical Site Supervisors with guidance from the Director and Executive Program Director. Your work will involve on‑site visits and travel to community and individual homes.
Responsibilities
Provide rapid response to adults, children, adolescents, and families in crisis by phone and on‑site within the community.
Participate in an acute care emergency services rotation system, including coverage during holidays and weekends.
Conduct risk assessments with a diagnosis, mental status examinations, and substance abuse screening.
Analyze information to identify action plans, including crisis stabilization, safety, and crisis prevention plans, and plan for follow‑up.
Consult with team members and supervisors.
Coordinate with community resources for collateral input and follow‑up care, including referrals for mental health treatment and substance abuse assessment and treatment.
Provide short‑term crisis intervention and stabilization services to clients in home or community settings.
Schedule / Shift
Full‑time; 5 days a week 8‑hour shifts or 4 days a week 10‑hour shifts.
Weekend and holiday expectations.
When scheduled for a weekend shift, your schedule will be 5 eight‑hour shifts that week.
Requirements and Education
Master's degree (MSW/MHC) and two years of related experience.
LMSW, LMHC, LCSW, LCSW‑R, MHC‑LP, or MSW‑LP licensure.
MSW‑LP holders must be license eligible and willing to apply for a limited permit upon hire.
MHC‑LP holders must already have obtained their limited permit and be close to finishing required clinical hours.
Willing to pass and obtain licensure within 3 months of hire.
Valid NYS Driver's License and willingness to travel to clients' homes and communities under a variety of circumstances and weather conditions.
Willing to work in many settings, including clients' homes and other community locations where there may be pets, cigarette smoke, and other irritants.
Rotating weekend and holiday shifts required.
