Position Overview The Illinois Department of Public Health is seeking a highly motivated individual to serve as the Marion Regional Health Officer. The role involves responsible managerial and administrative work overseeing the operations of the Regional Office in Marion, Illinois. The officer interprets and implements Department policies, provides leadership to regional personnel, directs coordination and evaluation of all program activities, and collaborates with local health departments and community organizations. The ideal candidate holds a Master’s degree in Public Health or Public Administration, has excellent project management and organizational skills, strong oral communication, and at least five years of supervisory experience.

Essential Functions

Effectuate public health policy at the regional level.

Plan and execute policies and procedures to ensure effective program operation in the Marion Regional Office.

Consult with local health department administrators for implementation of local and state public health rules and regulations.

Serve as full‑line supervisor.

Respond to constituent inquiries.

Perform other duties as required or assigned, reasonably within the scope of the enumerated duties.

Minimum Qualifications

Four (4) years of college education.

Four (4) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in health or human services.

Preferred Qualifications

Four (4) years of experience working with local health departments and communities.

A Master of Public Health, Public Administration, Business Administration, or similar degree.

Four (4) years of knowledge of public health, state agency programs, and service objectives.

Four (4) years of experience planning and executing policies and procedures.

At least five (5) years of experience supervising clerical, administrative, and programmatic staff.

Four (4) years of experience with word processing and spreadsheet applications.
