Certified Medical Assistant
Join BayMark Health Services as a Certified Medical Assistant. Full‑time position focusing on compassionate patient care in a substance use disorder treatment setting.
Location: Holyoke, MA
Description Health Care Resource Centers is looking for an organized and compassionate Certified Medical Assistant to greet patients, schedule appointments, and gather personal information. The Medical Assistant will take vital signs, assist practitioners with treatment, and collect lab samples.
Responsibilities
Schedules intake appointments, records and verifies patient information, and prepares medical records for new and returning patients
Check in patients, escort them to and from waiting room, interview patients, measure vital signs, and record information into electronic charts
Assist Medical Director/Program Physician/Nurse Practitioner with patient intakes as needed
Obtain blood specimens and collect non‑blood specimens such as urine and sputum for laboratory testing
Prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients and disinfect rooms, equipment, and supplies using germicides
Act as receptionist, perform secretarial duties, and prepare and maintain reports and records
Manage triage, phone contacts, and fax messages
File lab results into appropriate binders and distribute lab results to counselors
Attend weekly staff meetings and in‑service training
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
Minimum age requirement of 18
Certified or registered Medical Assistant
Phlebotomy required
Possess CPR/BCLS certification
Familiar with State Regulations, DEA regulations, and TJC and / or CARF Accreditation
Excellent written and verbal skills; working knowledge of MS Office and patient management software
Ability to establish a positive rapport with patients; demonstrate a non‑judgmental and accepting attitude toward the Substance Use Disorder population
1–2 years’ prior healthcare experience in a similar field and environment preferred
Satisfactory drug screen and criminal background check
Salary Range Salary ranges from $22.72 to $25.00 an hour.
Compensation will be based on experience, education, specialty, and training.
