RN Oncology Navigator
Actalent is seeking a dedicated RN Oncology Navigator to join our Ambulatory Oncology Navigation Team in Portland, OR. The role is a contract position with an initial 13‑week assignment and the possibility of extension or permanent placement.
Job Description You will serve as the first point of contact for new oncology patients. Your responsibilities include preparing patients for their initial consult, clarifying referral reasons, coordinating multidisciplinary appointments, tracking progress, and providing compassionate support to reduce anxiety and foster engagement.
Responsibilities
Engage with patients prior to their first oncology consult by phone and occasionally in person.
Prepare patients for their first visit, clarifying referral reasons, expected outcomes, and next steps.
Coordinate multidisciplinary appointments as needed.
Track progress toward the first modality of care and ensure timely transitions.
Identify and address barriers to care, supporting patients through initial transitions.
Clarify expectations for tests and consultations, ensuring patients understand their purpose.
Provide compassionate support to reduce anxiety and foster engagement with clinical teams.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
Current Oregon & Washington RN license.
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN).
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Current OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse) or BMTCN (Blood and Marrow Transplant Certified Nurse) certification, or completion of required continuing education nursing contact hours per Commission on Cancer requirements.
3+ years of recent adult Hematology/Oncology nursing experience within the past 5 years, including hematologic malignancies.
Experience in solid tumor oncology is highly desirable.
Demonstrated professionalism, excellent communication, and reflection skills.
Ability to work collaboratively on a team, provide and receive feedback, delegate, prioritize, and adapt in stressful situations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Recent ambulatory oncology care coordination experience preferred.
Leadership experience, project involvement, or participation in shared governance preferred.
Work Environment Location: Ambulatory Oncology facility, Portland, OR. Schedule: Monday‑Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM. Initial orientation period of 3 weeks. Assignment length 13 weeks, high likelihood of extension and potential for permanent placement. The organization is a Magnet‑Recognized Institution, nationally known for nursing excellence.

Pay and Benefits Pay range: $45.00 – $60.00 per hour.
