Description The Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) is the lead agency entrusted by the people of Georgia to protect lives and promote healthy lifestyles in communities throughout the state. The Northeast Health District is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Jackson County Health Department in Jefferson, Georgia. Under general supervision, the RN provides professional nursing care in accordance with nurse protocols, policies and/or procedures. Services include immunization, WIC, Family Planning, Women’s Health, Diabetes, Hypertension, STD, TB, and other preventive health services.

Job Responsibilities
Provide professional nursing care in accordance with nurse protocols, policies and/or procedures.
Focus on the prevention of illness, injury or disability and the promotion of health and maintenance of the health of populations.
Provide care for populations with special needs during disasters/emergencies and biological and chemical protocols.
Administer treatments for sexually transmitted infections, perform well‑women exams (pap smears, pelvic exams, breast exams) and provide preventive and maintenance care to patients and families in line with the care plan and nurse protocols.
Administer medications including birth control, STI treatments, TB medications and vaccines.
Function as part of a team and provide direct client services in a clinic setting.
Provide nursing coverage at the Commerce location when needed.
Minimum Qualifications Associate’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university, completion of a PHN course within one year of hire, current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license, and CPR certification.
Note: No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications Associate’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university, one year of nursing experience, completion of a PHN course within one year of hire, current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license, and CPR certification; or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university, current Georgia license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse, and CPR certification.
